In a recent piece for MarTech Series, Jonathon Ben-Haim, vice president of product management at SundaySky, explored the growing role of AI avatars in businesses around the world. 

From TikTok’s embrace of the technology and YouTube’s launch of AI creator tools to companies touting avatars to help with anything from onboarding to scaling content from executive leadership, Ben-Haim acknowledged that avatars aren’t merely on their way, they’re already here. While he offered insight on the benefits of using them, he also analyzed avatars’ limitations, particularly for marketers using video content to communicate complex ideas and connect data to personalize video at scale. 

Ben-Haim explored three important issues to consider before you embrace AI avatars for your business: 

  1. Avatars are inadequate when used only to communicate complex topics via video.
  2. Avatars are limited when you’re connecting data to personalize content at scale.
  3. Avatars must always be adopted with consideration of AI governance and other industry best practices.
